Quackhacks 2026 | Our Win!
Winning the Pipeworks Game Development Track
Our Winning Project
Glad to announce our first place award in the Pipeworks Game Development Track at QuackHacks 3. I and my team went with the game idea for the hackathon. We finished our projected and named it Carcosa, we took inspiration from occult themes and The King in Yellow by Robert W. Chambers.

Our Strong Point
I think what really won the judges over on our project, was our documentation of the whole game development process from the very beginning. We took careful note of our inspiriation ideas, and how that all transferred to both art and gameplay design. We displayed our Blender models next to our project to showcase how nearly all the models in our game were built from scratched, and for our characters fully rigged and animated.
Development Challenges
Originally, our idea started out as a roguelike based on games such as Hades 2 and Risk of Rain 2. We focused on that due to the strong, but simple gameplay loop that we believed was possible to make within the 24 hour time span. Unfortunately though we did have to cut a lot of that from the final product.
Reflection
Overall, this hackathon turned out to be quite fun and very rewarding. If I had a chance to go at it again, the main thing I would change would be to take at least 2-4 hour nap, I realized I’m getting old and I can’t pull off all nighters at full energy like I used to in high school.
My team plan to continue this project for a bit longer as adding more artistic and gameplay elements would really tie this game together. However, that is on the backburner considering finals immediately follows this hackathon.
